We can't help but think that this vintage gold charm was based on a pirate's treasure chest! It's wonderfully detailed throughout and actually opens. There is a latch at the front that works and once lifted, the lid of the chest opens to reveal a little glass locket-style window with faux gemstone treasure behind. The treasure sits in a 9ct gold box that can actually be removed too! it's the first with removable treasure that we've ever found.
You can keep the treasure inside, or perhaps you have something else you'd like to store inside - it's up to you!
The charm is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks on the side of the chest for the maker 'C&F', 9ct gold, Birmingham and the date letter 'G' for 1956. The lid of the chest is also hallmarked for 9ct gold as well as the gold cased treasure inside too.
The charm measures approx 7.5mm tall by approx 15mm wide (not including the jump ring) by approx 11mm deep and weighs approx 4.3g.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition but does show some signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold and glass treasure compartment inside. The hinge and latch still work well. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique chain and box pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
