Love to travel and see the world? Then this could be the perfect charm for you! This vintage gold globe charm has wonderful details throughout and there is even a turning satellite that orbits the Earth too.
The globe has lots of details depicting different places and has remnants of enamel detail too in multiple colours, although this has almost completely worn away.
The charm is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks to the bottom but these are had to read clearly due to the detail and enamel. We believe the satellite is modelled on Sputnik, the first artificial Earth satellite that was launched into orbit in 1957 so we think the charm likely dates to the late 1950s/early 1960s.
The jump ring attached is also hallmarked for 9ct gold, we think this is a later addition.
The charm weighs approx 4g and measures approx 18.7mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 17.8mm wide including the satellite. The globe measures approx 12.2mm in diameter.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold and the enamel which has now almost completely worn away in most places. As the globe is made up of two halves with a section for the sateliite in the middle, the halves sit a little out of line at times. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. The satellite still turns well. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
