Originally made as a fob case to hold your stamps, this vintage, 1920s, gold opening envelope makes such a beautiful pendant. Store your keepsakes, like photos, a mini love letter or even a lock of hair inside!
The envelope is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks on the front for what looks to be the maker 'A.B.J' (this mark is a little worn and hard to make out), 9ct gold, Chester and the date letter 'x' for 1923. The flap opens to reveal the compartment inside. As the jump ring is attached to the right hand side of the envelope, when worn the pendant hangs sideways as shown in the last photo.
The envelope measures approx 23.8mm tall by approx 27.4mm wide (not including the fittings to the side) by approx 3.6mm deep and weighs approx 3.9g in total. The envelope has lovely detailing to both the front and back too.
Condition - The pendant is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold. There is a dark mark to the gold inside the envelope and suraface wear inside too. The gold on the outside of the envelope has a lovely warm, rose tone to it and the gold inside the envelope is much more yellow in colour. The envelope does close well but it doesn't click closed as such (it may have closed tighter originally but over time this has become a little looser), this could be altered by a jeweller if desired so the mechanism is tighter. The envelope flap doenst sit completely flush when closed. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the chain and box pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch*
