We love a piece of jewellery that can hold a secret memento and this antique Victorian sterling silver vessel locket is large enough to keep a rolled up photo or memento close by whenever it's worn.

Dating to 1898, the pendant is late Victorian in age and features an incredibly detailed, hand engraved monogrammed initials to the front too for 'WE'. It would have originally held a cheroot holder, a holder for a type of cigar, but today it looks beautiful worn as a pendant and is a great statement size.

The pendant has British hallmarks for the maker 'J.A', sterling silver, Birmingham and the date letter 'y' for 1898. The inside of the lid also has the hallmark for sterling silver and the date letter 'y' for 1898.

The pendant when closed measures approx 61.5mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 20.3mm wide by approx 22mm deep and weighs approx 15.1g.

Condition - The pendant is in good, wearable antique condition for a piece that's over 120 years old but does show signs of age and wear as to be expected with a piece of this age. The silver has surface wear and dings in places to both the tube section and lid. There is also pattina and some small scratches to the silver in places. The hinge of the lid still works well and the lid firmly closes. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.

*Please note the chain and box pictured are not included in the sale but the pendant will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch*
