The Victorians loved their symbolism in jewellery and so we can't help but think this ring represents more than first meets the eye! Dating to 1895, this beautiful antique, Victorian gold ring looks like it symbolises the union of two becoming one, with the shank made of two piece of gold running side by side that twist together in a pretty braid-like design at the front. With its subtle romantic symbolism, we think it would make a lovely alternative engagement ring or wedding band!
This ring is made of 9ct gold that has a lovely warm rosey tone to it. There are British hallmarks inside the shank for the maker 'EV', 9ct gold and Chester and the date letter 'M' for 1895.
The ring weighs approx 3.5g and is approx 6.7mm wide at the front, approx 3.4mm wide at the back of the ring.
Ring size - approx just over a US size 6 (close to a 6.25) / approx a UK M
(due to the ring's chunky width at the front, it does feel to a wear a little snugger than it sizes on the ring madrel)
Condition - The ring is in good antique condition for a piece of this age but it does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear throughout to the gold. There are some dark marks in the creases of the braid pattern to the front from when the ring was made. There is also a line towards the back of the ring in the gold from a previous resize that can be seen to both the inside and outside of the shank. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box pictured is not included in the sale but the ring will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch*
