Known to ward off bad spirits, the evil eye is a symbol popular in jewellery throughout history.
This antique evil eye ring features a central opal set in platinum which is studded with tiny diamonds. The ring's shank is made from 18ct yellow gold.
The opal has some beautiful flashes of colour, including blue, green and orange.
The ring is hallmarked for 18ct gold and platinum and the maker's mark which looks to be 'B&K'. It also has the number 2125 engraved which could have been an old stock mark. The ring weighs approx 2.4g and the face measures approx 11mm by 7.5mm.
Ring size - UK O/US 7
Condition - The ring is in good antique condition but does show signs of wear, including light surface scratches. The opal under close magnification also shows signs of age. We think that possibly two of the diamonds, including one on the outer corner of the eye, may be later replacements as they catch the light slightly differently to the other diamonds.
*Pleae note that the ring box pictured is not included in the sale*
