Opals have to be one of our all time favourite stones. Just look at those colour flashes! This beautiful opal is set in such a beautiful setting, surrounded by a halo of rose cut diamonds.
The pendant is made of 9ct gold, unhallmarked, but tested and the top section has a silver wash to the front. We love the ornate detail to the top section and how it compliments the beauty of the opal and rose cut diamond halo. The pendant is made up of two sections that join together on a wire so the pendant does actually bend/move in the middle. Such an unusual feature!
We think it could have originally been part of a larger piece of jewellery as there are signs where it could have had further attachments. Please see the condition report below for more info.
The pendant measures approx 23.2mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 9.5mm wide by approx 7.4mm deep. The pendant weighs approx 1.8g.
Condition - The pendant is in good antique condition but does show signs of age and wear. The opal and diamonds have signs of age and wear, including surface wear. Some of the diamonds are a little cloudier in appearance. They are closed back set, likely with a foil backing. This foil could have been damaged behind which can change the look of the diamonds. The gallery detail to the back of the opal section is missing towards the bottom, we think this could be because the pendant was part of a larger piece and something could once have been attached here too. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box pictured and the chain are not included in the sale but the pendant will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch*
