How sweet is this antique Victorian gold and seed pearl heart locket!? We adore the little secret glass locket compartment to the back. Kept from view so your teeny tiny love token would be just for the wearer and also so it is kept closest to your skin when worn too!
The seed pearl to the front is also set in an ivy leaf design. the Victorians believed ivy symbolised everlasting love and was also sometimes used with the phrase 'I cling to thee'.
The charm is made of gold which tests as at least 9ct (the charm itself is unhallmarked which is common for a piece of this age and size).
The charm measures approx 13.4mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 10.3mm wide by aprox 4.6mm deep and weighs approx 1.2g in total.
Condition - The charm is in good antique condition for a piece over 100 years old but it does show light signs of age and wear, including light surface wear to the gold, seed pearl and glass panel to the back. We haven't opened the locket panel to the back, this will likely need to be done by a jeweller if you wish to keep something inside. There is currently what looks to be a tiny piece of cloth inside which is likely what was first put inside when the charm was made. The jump ring is a newer 9ct gold addition and is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
