Here at Kate Gold, we're drawn to antique jewellery with that quirky edge and we think this beautiful Georgian era ring fits the bill perfectly.
Shaped in a floral, yet gothic-like style, the ring is made from unhallmarked 9ct gold and silver, typical of the Georgian period. (Please note that it was not common for pieces made during this period to be hallmarked). Nestled within the silver settings are 9 small glinting diamond chips - the central diamond is slightly larger than the rest and is rose cut. The diamonds are set in a closed-back style typical for this period. Please see photos for more details.
Both the face and shoulders of the ring feature open sections and the ring has a lovely low profile when worn.
The face of the ring measures approx 11mm by 16mm. The ring weighs approx 3.6g.
Ring size - UK N/US 6.5
Condition - The ring is in good antique condition although it does show signs of wear which are common for its age. The shank narrows at the back of the ring and this has worn away through wear over the years. It is still in good condition though and is still fine to wear. Due to this thinning and the ring's age, we wouldn't recommend resizing the ring.
Please note that the diamonds in this ring a very small and due to their age and cut, they aren't what you might call flashy. This ring however still has a wonderful elegance about it and when the suns out, or there's candlelight about, the diamonds do glint beautifully.
