Known as the stone of success, citrine is said to bring wealth and prosperity to it's wearer.
This beautiful ring is from the Georgian period, and features a central, foil-backed citrine in an intricately engraved setting. Whether worn on a warm sunny or grey and cloudy day this citrine doesn't disappoint - featuring a variety of hues from deep amber and yellow to vibrant greens and oranges. The shoulders of the ring are also wonderfully detailed, with delicate open work.
Possibly once a romantic gift from one lover to another, the back of the ring has three engraved letters - I, D, J.The ring is made from unhallmarked 9ct gold - hallmarking wasn't common during this era.
The ring's face measures approx 9mm by 11.5mm and the ring weighs approx 2.2g.
Ring size - UK Q 1/2/US 8.5
Condition - The ring does show quite a few signs of wear. Both the shoulders and citrine do show signs of wear - one shoulder has a small piece of gold missing so they do not mirror one another. The cirtine also has surface scratches and nibbles and the foil setting behind the citrine shows signs of wear as some of it looks to have been damaged over the years (please see photos for more details). For a ring that is approx 200 years old it is still in wearable condition and is beautiful piece of history to own. Please see photos for more details.
