This antique gold and turquoise heart pendant is such a timeless piece. Likely made as a love token for one lover to gift to another, the pendant was actually made 110 years ago!

Turquoise was a very popular stone of choice in the Victorian era and its popularity continued into the Edwardian era too. The Victorians believed it symbolised true love - such a fitting choice to be nestled in the centre of this lovely heart shaped frame!

Turquoise is also the birthstone for December, so this would make a romantic piece to symbolise a loved one's birthday or perhaps a special anniversary. With its vivid colour, it would also make a lovely and unusual choice for a bride's 'something blue' too.

The pendant is made of 9ct gold and with British hallmarks to the back for 9ct gold, Chester and what looks to be the date letter 'L' for 1911. The hallmarks are now a little rubbed and hard to make out in places. The jump ring is also hallmarked for 9ct gold.

As is common with antique jewellery, the gold is quite rosey in tone throughout, with some small areas that are slightly yellower in tone. The rose gold tone is much softer than new rose gold that is made today due to the different alloys used to make up 9ct gold.

The turquoise cabochon is a lovely vivid blue colour and is bezel set with a close gold setting to the back.

The pendant measures approx 21mm tall (not including the jump ring, approx 25mm tall including the jump ring) by approx 16mm wide by approx 3mm deep and weighs approx 1g.

Condition - The pendant is in good antique condition for its age but does show some signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold and turquoise. The turquoise has some visible wear to the top although this is only really noticeable on close inspection. The jump ring is currently soldered closed and is a nice large size too (approx 6.8mm in diameter). Please see photos.

*Please note the box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
