This antique, 9ct gold heart padlock bracelet would be the perfect base for a charm bracelet. Although we have to admit it does look really pretty worn as it is too!
 
Both the bracelet chain and padlock are made of 9ct gold, even each link of the curb chain is marked '9' for 9ct gold! Such a lovely attention to detail. The back of the padlock has British hallmarks for the maker 'JES', 9ct gold, Chester and the date letter 'J' for 1909. The top bar of the padlock is also hallmarked '9.375' for 9ct gold. 
 
The chain measures approx just over 7 1/2 inches long and the chain link is approx 6mm wide and hollow to the centre. There is an attached safety chain which means that the bracelet opens to approx 9 1/2 inches long to slip over the hand to be worn. The padlock measures approx 18.6mm tall by approx 12.2mm wide by approx 3.1mm deep. The bracelet weighs approx 8.3g in total. 
 
The padlock opens by pulling the top lever upwards and closes by being pushed back down again until you hear a click. This mechanism still works well and closes firmly. The padlock also has pretty faux screw and keyhole details to the front and there is a safety chain attached to the padlock and bracelet. 
 
Condition - The bracelet is in good antique condition but does show signs of age and wear to the chain and padlock. There is some surface wear to the gold throughout on both the chain and padlock. The two links that attach onto the padlock at each end of the chain are a little worn in places and the top lever/bar of the padlock also shows some wear to it. The padlock clasp still works well.
