These antique dog clip clasps make fantastic charm holders and this is a super rare one! Unlike most that you see with a clip to one end, this is a double dog clip with a clip to each end making it even more useful as a clasp, chain extender or charm holder.
Originally it would likely have once been part of an antique watch chain but it could now be added onto a chain of your choosing to use as a clasp as intended, or it could be worn on a necklace as a pendant with charms clipped onto it. Such a versatile piece of jewellery to say it's over 100 years old!
The double dog clip is made of 9ct gold, hallmarked '9c' to one side. As with a lot of antique 9ct gold, it has a mixture of yellow and warm rose tones to the gold in places.
The double dog clip measures approx 22.2mm long by 6.4mm wide by approx 5.2mm deep and weighs approx 1.5g. One dog clip is slightly larger and thicker than the other. To the smaller end, the gold of the dog clip is approx 1.2mm wide and to the larger end, the gold of the dog clip is approx 2mm wide.
Condition - The double dog clip is in good antique condition with some surface wear to the gold throughout. The spring mechanisms both still work well. One clip is larger than the other. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box, chain with dog clips and the charms pictured with the double dog clip charm holder are not included in the sale but the double dog clip will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch. The charms are available separately.*
