We couldn't help but fall in love as soon as we laid eyes on this late Victorian gold and turquoise name bracelet. Perfect if you're called Doris, or have a loved one that is, we also just can't help but smile when we see each of the five gold letters strung along the two strands of gold chain.

The clasp is even beautifully decorated too with a turquoise cabochon so it looks as pretty worn to the front as a feature, rather than have it hiding to the back like we do with most clasps.

We did a little research into the history and meaning of the name Doris and found it was originally a name given to women of the Greek Dorian tribe. ‘Doron’ means ‘gift’.

The bracelet is made of 9ct gold, marked '9ct' to the inside of the clasp, and the gold has a lovely warm rose tone to it that you find with jewellery of this age. Without further hallmarks, it's hard to date exactly but we believe it's likely late Victorian in age, circa 1880s-1900.

The bracelet measures approx 7 inches long (not including the clasp, it's approx 7 1/4 inches long including the clasp). Each letter is approx 9mm tall. The bracelet weighs approx 4.85g in total.

Condition - The bracelet is in good antique condition but does show some signs of age and wear which is typical for a piece that is over 100 years old. This includes some surface wear to the gold and turquoise. The clasp still works well. There are two very small rings attached to either side of the clasp where a safety chain could be added if required. Please see photos.

*Please note, the antique box pictured is not included in the sale but the bracelet will be sent in a new presentation box and pouch.*
