We love a charm with symbolism and this antique gold lantern charm has just that! We like to think of it as a wearable guiding light, to help point you in the right direction.
It's been very beautifully made, with detailing to the gold througout. There is a hinged door that actually opens, this is set with a deep red garnet, and the bottom of the lantern is set with a piece of bloodstone. Inside there is a little tubular holder that looks like it imitates a candle holder. The top of the lanter has holes in it to let in air, so we think it might have even been possible that the lantern held a small fragarance stick/clove so it could work as a pomander when worn!
The charm is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks for 9ct gold, Birmingham and the date letter 'y' for 1898. The handle also has a separate 9ct gold hallmark.
The charm measures approx 22.7mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 9mm wide by approx 12.7mm deep and weighs approx 2g.
Condition - The charm is in good antique condition with some light surface wear to the gold, garnet and bloodstone. The hinged door opens well and clicks firmly closed. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
